The City of New Berlin requires a license for dogs and cats that are five months of age or older and have had their rabies shots. Licenses are valid for the calendar year. You may purchase this license in person (Cash or Check ONLY) Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the cashier’s window on the first floor of City Hall:
3805 S Casper Drive
New Berlin, WI 53151
Please see required information and link for application below.
License requests can also be made by mail. Simply complete the application form, send it to the cashier’s office with a self-addressed stamped envelope, and the license will be mailed to you.
Any renewal for a dog license not received by March 31st will be assessed with a $5.00 late fee.
For your convenience, there is also a drop box in the lower level parking lot of City Hall. Please remember to include the following REQUIRED information:
- Rabies vaccination certificate
- Proof of spay/neuter
- SIGNED Vicious Dog Declaration Certification (If applying for Dog license, licenses will not be issued without signature)
Copies are acceptable for the rabies and spay/neuter information and will be returned. Staff members do not have time to call veterinarians; therefore, licenses will not be issued without the form.
On November 13, 2012 Ordinance 2490 (PDF) was passed with respect to the issue of the regulations and licensing of dogs. If you have additional questions regarding the licensing of your cat or dog, please feel free to email the cashier’s office during normal working hours at (262) 797-2448.
