Amusement Device/Vendor License
Amusement device licenses are required for any non-residential premises that offer amusement devices (such as non-gambling electronic games, pool tables, bowling alleys, or jukeboxes) for patron use. A separate amusement distributor/vendor license is required for any company that distributes, leases, or sells amusement devices within the City of New Berlin.
Important notes
In Wisconsin, Class "A" liquor license holders (carryout/off-premise sales, such as grocery or liquor stores) are not on-premise consumption licenses, so amusement devices are generally not permitted.
"Class B" liquor license holders (bars, restaurants, taverns) allow on-premise consumption and are authorized to have licensed amusement devices on their premises. Electronic video machines must be strictly for amusement purposes only - no gambling, cash payouts, or credit redemption allowed. These types of electronic machines are considered illegal if the establishment owns more than five machines or uses them for gambling purposes. Possession or operation can result in seizure of the machines, loss of licenses, and criminal penalties, including classification as a felony under Wisconsin law.
For more information, see the Wisconsin Department of Revenue's guidance: Video Gambling Machines are Illegal - Publication 4100
