Contractors

Permits can be issued to licensed electrical, plumbing, HVAC and building contractors.

Home Owner Privilege

Permits may be issued to a property owner if the following conditions apply:

  • Building must be their own single family dwelling (not condominium) that is owned and occupied by them as a permanent residence
  • Apply for and secure the necessary permit(s)
  • Pay the required fees
  • Do the work themselves
  • Follow the provisions of the Building Code
  • Schedule required inspections
  • Receive approval of the Electrical and/or Plumbing Inspector
  • Home owner's privilege does not apply to:
    • New electrical service or service upgrades
    • In-ground swimming pools, spas or hot tubs
    • New construction prior to the issuance of an occupancy permit
    • Remodeling over 1,500 square feet
    • Electrical work outside the dwelling
