New Berlin, Wisconsin-- City employee John W. Bauer retired from the City of New Berlin in May of 1998 after 30 years of service as an Engineer and Building Maintenance Manager. The John Bauer Employee Excellence Award honors employees for their commitment to get the job done while providing outstanding service.
Continuing the tradition, the Mayor’s Office is seeking nominations of City employees who demonstrates employee excellence in one or more of the following categories. Nominations are encouraged from fellow employees, supervisors, aldermen, or citizens.
• Personal and team accomplishments: Acknowledge the efforts of employees that build engagement, productivity, and collaboration. A thriving workplace requires effort and success.
• Demonstrations of leadership: Recognize the leaders that set a good example, step up when needed, or help wherever it is required. Any employee that demonstrates leadership can be considered regardless of job title.
• Work Safety: Acknowledge those who mitigate risk and help keep employees safe. An important aspect of employee engagement is setting a good example and advocating for safety.
• Innovative Thinking: Reward those who take the initiative to be innovative and determined to propose new ideas that may improve the City of New Berlin.
Please submit your nomination of no more than 500 words sharing how your nominee has achieved excellence in one or more of the categories above and how that has had a positive impact on colleagues and/or the residents of the City of New Berlin. Nominations will be reviewed and scored by a committee to include a member of each City Department. The final recipient of the award will be acknowledged at the City’s Employee Recognition Luncheon to be held on June 4, 2025.
