On Tuesday, November 13, 2018, the City of New Berlin Police & Fire Commission unanimously voted to appoint Jeffrey J. Hingiss as the City’s next Chief of Police. The appointment will take effect upon the retirement of current Chief of Police Joseph Rieder on January 4, 2019.
Hingiss, who currently serves as Deputy Chief for the New Berlin Police Department has been a member of the New Berlin Police Department since 1997. He has held a variety of assignments including tactical instructor, SWAT team leader and Suburban Critical Incident Team commander before being promoted to his current role in 2017.
This appointment concludes a six-month internal recruitment process.
