At 50 years old, New Berlin is younger than many Milwaukee, Wisconsin, suburbs. But it has the cohesiveness of a place that’s much older. With a population of approximately 39,000 people, the city is tight-knit; residents join together for holiday parades and youth sporting events. The city's highly organized Parks & Recreation Department is one of the hallmarks of our town. The New Berlin park system, with 845 acres of parks and conservancy areas, includes a wide range of recreational uses for all seasons, including soccer, biking, playgrounds, cross-country skiing, walking, and golfing. We offer many programs for all residents of the community, from toddlers to the elderly - dance, aquatics, fitness classes, adult sports programs, and much more.

Industrial Park

New Berlin has an expanding industrial park that helps strengthen the city’s tax base. Comprised of more than 599 businesses and 13,000 employees, the 1,872 acres of industrial park have created for the city a dynamic industrial base that is the envy of most Wisconsin communities.


A new city center was developed and is now home to retail, office, and residential tenants as well as the New Berlin Public Library. Located on the edge of scenic Waukesha County, the City of New Berlin covers 36.9 square miles and is advantageously situated between Madison and Milwaukee, with Green Bay and Chicago only a short drive away. Interstate Highway 94 is located immediately north of New Berlin, and Interstate Highway 43 passes through the city.


While maintaining its semi-rural appearance, the city offers a wide range of housing opportunities, from impressive single-family homes to affordable and attractive apartments and condominiums that accommodate the city. Many rural views and forested areas also add charm to the city and help maintain high property values. Residents enjoy an atmosphere that is almost rural, yet is close to metropolitan conveniences. Different areas of the city provide unique living experiences for all who call New Berlin home. The west side offers larger single-family lots and farms served by private septic and well systems. The east side of New Berlin offers single-family homes, most of which have public sewer and water services. In addition, there are many apartment and condominium developments within the city that cater to the needs of a diverse population that spans from young professionals to families and to the elderly.
